The book’s interactive format organizes the Key Ideas and Conceptual Understandings into an appealing format that students can easily comprehend. Students are shown the Key Idea they will need to focus on the first page of each content chapter. In addition, the opening page of each chapter contains two pictures that visually capture what students will learn about in that chapter. There is also a brief summary of the content in that chapter. This advanced organizer of the chapter content allows students to know up front what they will be learning about in that chapter. Lastly, the opening page has a timeline of the most important seven or eight events taking place in that chapter. A timeline is the beating heart of the chapter. It captures the essence of what is explored in the chapter and when the event in that chapter took place.
